Police were called to a suspicious death at about 4:30 p.m. on September 23rd. A black Honda car was parked in front of 1492 West 53rd Avenue , the driver’s side window was shattered and the lone occupant, a woman, was dead. The victim had been shot.
Police believe the death happened between 4 and 6 a.m. in the 1400 block of West 53rd Avenue . The 31-year-old victim has been identified as Maria Yvette MONZON. Ms. MONZON was a popular night club bartender, who worked in the Lower Mainland.
Investigators believe this was not a random attack, but a targeted shooting and are asking for the public’s help to provide any information about “Mayvette,” as she was known.
