Vancouver Police are confirming the city’s 18th homicide of 2009.

Residents called 9-1-1 after hearing what they believed to be the sound of gunshots in the area of West 19th Ave and Cambie Street at approximately 10:16 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29th.

Officers arrived to discover a man, believed to be in his 30s, deceased in the middle of Cambie Street just south of W. 19th Avenue.

It is still very early in the investigation and officers will continue to be in the area throughout the day.

Early indications are that this was targeted and there may be gang links.
At this time there are no suspects in custody and there are no suspect descriptions.
