East Hastings Street between Skeena and Kootenay has been closed to traffic due to an ongoing police incident in the 3500 block East Hastings Street. Motorists and pedestrians are asked to avoid the area.
VPD Emergency Response Team members and police negotiators have been on scene since shortly after 3 p.m. last this afternoon and are speaking with a distraught man, who is believed to have a knife. The man is alone inside a business and every precaution is being taken to resolve the situation safely for all involved.
