A 44 year old man is in critical condition, and a 45 year old man is recovering from injuries after the pair were found lying in a lane near Fraser Street an East 50th Avenue last Sunday morning. Investigators are appealing to the public for more information as it is still unclear as to what happened to the two men who were discovered 150 metres apart in the south lane.

Around 1:30 a.m. on the morning of May 20th, a caller to 9-1-1 reported hearing a fight in the south lane of the 500 block of East 50th Avenue. When police arrived a short time later, officers found two men; one of them was unconscious and remains in hospital in critical condition and the other was released after treatment for injuries to his head. It has since been determined that both men live in the area but any previous association between the two has not been confirmed.

The investigation to date has yielded few clues as to what actually transpired in the lane but alcohol may have been a factor in the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the incident, or who may have further information, is asked to call the VPD Robbery / Assault Squad at (604) 717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
