A 61 year old Vancouver man is recovering from his injuries after being struck in the head with a hammer after an apparent robbery attempt last night in East Vancouver.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on July 2nd, the victim was walking in the 1300 block of Odlum Drive, when a man walked up to him and demanded his laptop bag. When the victim refused to turn over his property, the suspect pulled out a hammer and struck him several times in the head. 

The suspect is described as white, 6’ tall, 160 lbs., 18 to 26 years old with short hair. It is believed he was wearing a blue hoodie at the time of the attack.

The victim was taken to hospital for cuts and scrapes to his ear and the right side of his face.
