Vancouver Police are investigating an early morning stabbing that has one man in hospital recovering from non-life threatening injuries and a second man in police custody.

Shortly before 5 a.m., Vancouver Police were called to the 6100 block Battison Street for a report that a man had been stabbed. Officers arrived to find a 31 year old man suffering from a stab wound to his stomach. The victim was taken to hospital where he’s in stable condition and being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

A 36 year old Vancouver man is currently being held in police custody and is facing possible assault and weapons charges.

Investigators have located a possible crime scene in the 6200 Battison Street and will be there throughout the morning. At this early stage the motive for the assault is unknown but investigators do not believe this was a random attack as it appears the victim and the suspect know each other.
