Vancouver Police are investigating the death of a 62 year old woman in Vancouver’s 10th traffic fatality of 2012.

Shortly after 11:30 a.m. on August 1st, a car entered the intersection of Knight Street and East 20th Avenue. The vehicle was struck on the passenger side by a minivan traveling southbound on Knight.

The driver of the minivan and her two young children were checked by paramedics at the scene and released. The driver and passenger of the car were both taken to hospital. The 62 year old female passenger tragically died from her injuries. 

The identity of the victim is being withheld as efforts to notify next of kin are being made.

Members of the Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit are looking into the cause of the accident.

This is Vancouver’s tenth traffic-related fatality of 2012 compared to 13 year-to-date in 2011 and seven year-to-date in 2010.
