Vancouver Police are at the scene of a motor vehicle collision at East Broadway and Slocan Street after a motorist failed to stop for police and subsequently struck a police car.

Shortly after 4 a.m. this morning, a man was observed driving erratically. Police activated their emergency equipment and attempted to pull the car over. The man refused to stop the car and collided with a police car.

Following the collision, the lone occupant of the car, an unidentified Vancouver man, suffered minor injuries after he refused to follow police direction.

A Vancouver Police officer is recovering from abrasions after his air bag deployed.

Eastbound traffic on Broadway is being diverted at Penticton Street and is expected to remain closed for several hours as members of the Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit investigate.
