Vancouver Police believe they have nabbed the person responsible for the theft of the Delta Police bagpipes and pipe band uniform that were stolen from BC Place Stadium on September 15, but the search continues for the goods.

Following the original media release on September 15th, investigators learned of a possible suspect in the theft. They found their man but he didn’t have the large black duffel bag with the pipes and uniform.

“We’ve caught the suspect, now we need to find the pipes,” says Sergeant Randy Fincham, VPD media relations officer.

“The bagpipes and stolen uniform have a huge sentimental value to both the pipe band and the Delta Police Department. The Vancouver Police are still scouring the city and hoping that a concerned citizen will find them and call police.”

Joel Elliott Nichols, 32, of Vancouver, has been arrested and charged with theft under $5,000. He has been remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in court on September 27th at 9 a.m.
