One officer remains in hospital and another is recovering at home after a single vehicle collision involving a police car late last night.

Shortly after 11:30 p.m. on October 10th, two Vancouver Police officers in an unmarked police car were driving west on East 41st Avenue to a 9-1-1 call of two men attempting to break into cars. Although still early in the investigation, it is believed that in an attempt to avoid another car pulling out at Nanaimo Street, the driver lost control of the police car and struck a brick fence in the 2200 block East 41st Avenue.

Both officers in the vehicle were taken to hospital with serious but non life-threatening injuries. The driver has since been released and the passenger remains in hospital.

The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit is investigating and is asking for anyone who witnessed the collision to call them at (604) 717-3012.
