On Saturday, December 8th, the Vancouver Police Department will be holding a two-year “Tweet-A-Versary” tweet-a-thon to commemorate their two years on Twitter. Between 6 p.m. and midnight, you will be able to follow @VancouverPD on Twitter as they tweet out the calls – big and small – that Vancouver Police patrol officers are attending.

The goal of the “Tweet-A-Versary” is to give the public a glimpse into what a typical Saturday night in Vancouver is like and the types of calls police attend. Social Media Officer Constable Anne Longley, will be tweeting and answering questions and you can follow the conversation at #TwoYearTweets.

The Vancouver Police Department began using Twitter December 9th, 2010, with a 24-hour “Tweet-A-Thon,” and since then our Twitter followers have grown to 28,000. In the past two years on Twitter, the Vancouver Police Department have hosted “Tweet-A-Longs” with patrol officers, “Tweet-the-Chief” with Chief Constable Jim Chu, and were active on Twitter during the 2011 Stanley Cup riot.  Communicating using Twitter and other social media platforms are part of our commitment to communicate more widely with the public, and we invite you to join us for our two-year “Tweet-A-Versary” this Saturday, December 8th.
