Vancouver Police have made a substantial seizure after an investigation lead them to a network of drug dealers operating in the city and believed to be linked to the notorious UN gang.
In early March of 2013, patrol officers working in the southeast district of Vancouver received information involving a sophisticated group selling cocaine, heroin and rock cocaine.
On April 11th, Vancouver Police, working with the RCMP Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, executed simultaneous search warrants at three homes in Vancouver and Richmond.
During the searches, police seized a handgun, two replica handguns, body armour, approximately $50,000 cash and a significant amount of cocaine and heroin.
Police also seized five cars that were allegedly used for transporting drugs.
Four men have been arrested, including two Richmond residents, age 22 and 31, a 25 year old Surrey resident and a 25 year old Vancouver resident. The men are all known to police. Drug and weapons related charges are expected to be requested. Police also plan to seek asset forfeiture of the cars.
“The officers took quick action to disrupt this drug group, a group that preyed on the marginalized in our community,” said Inspector Mike Serr with the Vancouver Police Organized Crime Section. “This investigation, along with the seizures and subsequent arrests, will significantly disrupt the street level distribution of drugs in this region of Vancouver.”
