The actions of an attentive Parking Enforcement Officer resulted in the arrest of man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

On April 23rd, the City By-law officer was writing parking tickets in the 1100 block of Quebec Street when he noticed something strange about a parked Dodge Caravan. He called 9-1-1 to report the suspicious vehicle and police determine that it had been reported stolen to the Burnaby RCMP three days earlier.

Vancouver Police officers attended, disabled the van and waited. The patience of the officers paid off when after about 45 minutes, a man got into the van and allegedly tried to drive away.

Officers arrested the man, who was also found to be wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for being unlawfully at large.

Fifty-four year old David Allan Lamberton has been charged with possession of stolen property under $5000 and possession of break-in instruments. He remains in custody until his next court appearance on April 30th.
