Police continue the investigation into a fatal collision involving a motorcycle last night.

At about 10:30, a motorcycle traveling east on 1st Avenue collided with a pick-up truck crossing at Nootka Street.

Tragically, the 27 year old Vancouver man operating the motorcycle died at the scene as a result of injuries sustained in the crash. His name is not being released.

The 76 year old man driving the pick-up was not injured and is cooperating with police.

While it is still early in the investigation, it appears as though speed may have been a factor. The Vancouver Police Collision Investigation Unit will try to determine the cause of the collision and any factors that may have contributed.

This is Vancouver’s sixth fatal collision this year compared with seven at this time in 2012.

Anyone that has information or witnessed the collision is asked to contact the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at (604) 717-3012.
