Charges have been laid against a 21 year old man in the sexual assault of a young woman that occurred last night.
At about 5:30 p.m., the man allegedly approached the woman near Hastings and Cambie, where he grabbed and groped her. The victim then observed as this man grabbed another woman a short distance away.
Police were called and provided with a description. About 10 minutes later, officers located a suspect in a nearby business. The other woman has not been identified.
Charges have now been laid in relation to the sexual assault and the man remains in custody until his next court appearance.
The man is well known to police and has a criminal history that includes other sexual offence allegations. As the matter is now before the courts and there is a publication ban in place, there are no additional details available at this time.
