Around 3:45 on Saturday afternoon, police were called to Vancouver City Hall in response to allegations of an assault on a security guard. Police arrested a 64 year old man from Vancouver and are now conducting an investigation into the alleged assault.
That man was later taken to hospital for the treatment of injuries he is believed to have sustained during the arrest.
The Independent Investigations Office was notified by the Vancouver Police Department and they have asserted jurisdiction in the investigation.
As the investigation is ongoing, any further media inquiries should be directed to the IIO.
