The Vancouver Police are looking for the driver of a car who caused a number of pedestrians downtown to run for safety.

At about 9:30 a.m. on February 6th, police received complaints of a car being driven erratically north on Hornby Street. The car mounted the curb and travelled down the west sidewalk narrowly missing several pedestrians before turning west on Dunsmuir Street.

The VPD Traffic Section has released video of the incident and is asking for the public’s help to identify the driver. One man can be seen in the video approaching the car, described as a newer model Chevrolet Camaro convertible with a black top, and tries to open the car door. Investigators are interested in speaking with this witness and any other person who may have information that could help identify the driver.

While the VPD cannot yet confirm the cause of this dangerous incident,  police are reminding drivers that there will be enhanced distracted driving enforcement during the month of February.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Vancouver Police Traffic Support Section at (604) 717-9974.
