An investigation continues after Vancouver Police executed a search warrant at an illegal Eastside marijuana store.

At about 1:00 this afternoon, officers from the Vancouver Police Operations Division executed a search warrant at Weeds located at 882 East Hastings Street after police received reports that marijuana was allegedly being bought at the store and sold to youth in the surrounding neighbourhood.

Five customers and three staff inside the store were identified and released and no arrests were made.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to provide at this time.

The VPD will continue to respond to any complaints about illegal marijuana use and sales, and decide if further investigation or enforcement action is required. Our priority remains focusing on violent drug traffickers and those who prey on youth, the marginalized or the drug addicted.

Our front line officers will continue to use discretion enforcing the possession and consumption of marijuana under federal law. Options include criminal charges, seizures and violation tickets for smoking under the city bylaws.
