As children head back to school, the Vancouver Police and its partners are reminding motorists to slow down and pay attention in school zones.

“School zones will once again be busy with kids who are excited to get back into the classrooms to learn and see their friends and teachers,” says Acting Inspector Ken Eng with the VPD Traffic Section. “We all want children to get to and from school safely. We can make that happen if we slow down and pay attention.”

Police have little tolerance for behaviour that puts children at risk. Traffic enforcement officers and Speed Watch volunteers will be stepping up enforcement in school zones. School zone speed limits are 30 km/h between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
