Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect who is believed to be responsible for a recent arson at a Vancouver home.
On Friday, October 10th, around 4 a.m., a man was seen setting fire to the front door of a house located on Commercial Street near East 38th Avenue and running away. A 69-year-old man escaped from the rear of the home. He was taken to hospital and was treated for smoke inhalation.
Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services attended and extinguished the flames, which had caused superficial damage to the front of the home. Police believe that an accelerant was used to start the fire.
As a result of the most recent incident, the man who had been renting the house has had to move.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect and his vehicle, shown in the attached photos. He is believed to be white, in his 20s or 30s, and was wearing a blue hoodie, designer jeans, white runners and black and red gloves.
Anyone with information about this man or who has information about this incident is asked to call VPD Arson Investigators at (604) 717-2541.
