A 28-year-old man is in custody for the death of a woman on Vancouver’s West Side.
At about 8:30 last night, the body of a woman was found at a home on W.23rd Avenue near Balaclava Street.
Officers arrived and contained the home as the suspect barricaded himself inside the residence.
Police, Emergency Response Team members and negotiators engaged in an eight-hour stand-off with the man.
Shortly before 5:00 this morning, the suspect was taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing and there are limited details to share. Detectives will be recommending charges of murder.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time.
