Starting Monday, November 17th, VPD canine handlers and their four-legged partners will be hitting the streets as they launch the 2015 VPD Police Dog Calendar street sales. The public will be able to meet the police dogs and handlers, and support two worthy BC charities. Twenty-five calendars sold on Monday will contain a pair of Vancouver Giants game tickets. Three calendars will contain a voucher for a signed and framed picture of either the BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps, or the Vancouver Canucks Sedin twins calendar shot.
The calendar, featuring photographs of VPD Police Dogs with well-known professional athletes, is funded and produced by the Candy Anfield Memorial Foundation. The foundation was created by retired VPD Sergeant Mike Anfield in honour of his wife Candy, a VPD officer who lost her valiant struggle with breast cancer in 2004.
The cost of each calendar is $10.00, and all of the money raised goes to the BC Cancer Foundation and the BC Children’s Foundation. Last year, the calendar raised $21,000, bringing the total raised to $100,000.
