One man is in custody after an alleged attack and stand-off at a home in East Vancouver.

Shortly after 10:00 this morning, police received a call of a man covered in blood walking down an alley near East 43rd Avenue and Sophia Street. The 25-year-old man eventually walked into a business on Fraser Street and was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Officers attended a nearby home and found a second man who barricaded himself inside. After a two-hour stand-off with police, he surrendered to officers.

A 49-year-old woman was found in the home also suffering from serious injuries. She was taken to hospital, but is expected to survive.

It is still early in the investigation, but the preliminary information indicates the upstairs tenant in the home allegedly attacked the two people living in the basement suite. Police did recover items in the home that are believed to have been used as weapons by the suspect.

Investigators will be recommending two counts of attempted murder against a 45-year-old man who is known to police.
