Olympic and Field Hockey rings

A field hockey player who represented Canada at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games has lost his prized Olympic ring following a break and enter yesterday afternoon.

Between 3 and 4 p.m. on Monday afternoon, a thief forced his or her way into an unoccupied home on West 8th Avenue near Maple Street. The thief made off with a number of items, including a priceless white gold 2008 Beijing Olympic ring and a UBC Thunderbirds alumni ring. Both rings are irreplaceable.

The Canadian Men’s National Field Hockey Team captain, who is no stranger to fair play, is left calling foul after the break in to his family home.

Anyone with information about this theft, or who knows the whereabouts of these rings, is asked to call the Vancouver Police or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
