Vancouver Police are looking for additional victims of random attacks in the International Village Mall area, after a number of people were randomly assaulted by a stranger on Wednesday afternoon.
Shortly after 12 p.m. on January 6th, a 68-year-old woman was leaving the Costco on Expo Boulevard when she was pushed to the ground by a stranger.
A short time later, the man approached 39-year-old woman on Abbott Street and, without provocation, pushed her to the sidewalk.
He continued along Abbott Street to West Hastings where he shoulder-checked a third victim, a 20-year old man.
All three victims suffered minor injuries.
A number of calls were made to 9-1-1, reporting that the man was allegedly indiscriminately attacking and spitting on people.
He was followed by witnesses and located by police a short time later in the north lane of West Hastings Street near Abbott.
Forty-one year-old Michael Vallis remains in police custody and is appearing in Downtown Community court this morning.
Investigators believe that there were more victims who have not yet spoken to police. They are asked to call the VPD’s Robbery Assault Unit at (604) 717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
