Update

Vancouver Police are releasing a video surveillance image of a suspect in an attempted home invasion, hoping it will quickly lead investigators to the identity and location of the suspect.

Shortly before 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7th, an 86-year-old woman was dropped off at her home near West 45th Avenue and Cambie Street. She walked to the rear of the residence and entered the house. As she began to turn off the alarm system, a man approached from behind and attempted to force his way into the residence.

As the elderly woman struggled with the man at the door, the house alarm went off, causing the suspect to run away. The motive of this attack is unknown.

Police were called, but a search of the area by officers and K9 did not locate the person involved.

A video image of the suspect shows he appears to be white, 35 to 45 years old, 5’6″ to 5’11” tall, balding, with possible brown hair, and stubble.

If anyone has information regarding this incident or suspect, please call 9-1-1 immediately.
