Update: Arrest

Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating a man wanted for robbing banks.

Just before 10 am on November 10th, a man allegedly entered the Scotiabank on Granville Street near West 12th Avenue and presented an employee with a hold-up note. He made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Four days later on November 14th at 3 pm, the same individual reportedly gave a bank teller a note demanding money at the Scotiabank on West Broadway and MacDonald Street. He was seen leaving the area on foot.

Thirty-eight-year-old Vancouver resident Jason Michael Dagenais is currently wanted for two counts of robbery.

Dagenais is described as being white, 6’1″ tall, 220 lbs., with light brown hair and blue eyes.  He has a lengthy criminal record, including robberies, property crimes, and drug offences.

“Although we have seen an increase in the number of bank robberies over the last couple of years, our solve rate remains over 90 percent,” says VPD Constable Jason Doucette. “Bank robbers get caught.”

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Dagenais is asked to call 9-1-1 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
