Homicide Unit

The Homicide Unit investigates all murders, all attempted murders where death is imminent, and all conspiracy to commit murders in Vancouver. As well, they are responsible for looking into all sudden deaths where suspicious or unknown circumstances exist, and all suspicious missing person cases.

The Major Crime Homicide Unit has three teams of detective constables, each led by a sergeant. A crime analyst and two investigational assistants also work alongside the investigators.

Being a Homicide investigator is a highly sought-after position in the VPD. Members are selected for their outstanding investigative skills, previously demonstrated in other investigative sections.

The Homicide Unit has a tradition of excellence and perseverance, with members sharing a fierce pride in the work they do, and the work that has been done by the homicide detectives who came before them.
