Vancouver – Vancouver Police are investigating a homicide in the Downtown Eastside.
Officers deployed as part of VPD’s Taskforce Barrage last night were flagged down around 8:45 p.m. by a witness reporting that a person had been stabbed near Carrall and East Hastings Street.
Officers located the injured victim, a 48-year-old man, on the sidewalk near the front entrance of the West Hotel, on Carrall Street. Police and firefighters provided first aid before the victim was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The suspect is outstanding, however police do not believe the incident was random.
