Vancouver – Vancouver Police are investigating an overnight shooting in Strathcona’s MacLean Park, which left a 55-year-old man with serious injuries.
VPD received 9-1-1 calls shortly before 10 p.m. Monday reporting that someone had been shot and was calling out for help near Hawks Avenue and East Georgia Street. Responding officers located the 55-year-old victim, who was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He is expected to survive.
Police believe the victim and suspect were meeting near the park prior to the shooting, which does not appear random.
The suspect fled and remains outstanding.
Vancouver Police investigators will be working in the neighbourhood to collect evidence and speak to witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call VPD’s Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541.
