Vancouver – Vancouver Police are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred in the downtown core last night, and are asking witnesses or anyone with dash-cam video to come forward.
The victim, a 55-year-old man, was struck by the driver of a Blacktop Taxi at the intersection of Smithe and Cambie Street on August 15 just after 10 p.m. He was taken to hospital where, sadly, he was pronounced deceased.
The driver of the taxi suffered minor injuries and remained at the scene.
The circumstances that led up to the collision are now being investigated by VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit.
