Vancouver – A triple homicide suspect has been formally charged with a third count of second-degree murder in the deaths of three women in East Vancouver last September.

Viet Quy John Ly was arrested September 5 and charged with two counts of second-degree murder in the stabbing deaths of two women who were found in a residential building near Joyce Street and Vanness Avenue.

The third victim, Jinfeng Guan, was found in a residential building about two blocks from the crime scene. She received medical treatment in hospital, but died from her injuries on September 11.

On Monday, following a Vancouver Police investigation, the BC Prosecution Service laid a third count of second degree murder against Ly, in connection with Guan’s death.

Ly remains in custody.
