Vancouver – A suspected car thief was arrested by Vancouver Police on Thursday following a crime spree that spanned several blocks, led to a truck being set on fire, and ended with the alleged criminal being struck by a car while running from the police.

The crime spree began shortly before 1:50 p.m. on February 12, when someone stole a motorcycle near Main Street and Industrial Avenue.

Approximately an hour later, the suspected motorcycle thief ditched the stolen bike near Mountainview Cemetery, at Fraser Street and East 41st Avenue. He allegedly entered a work truck parked inside the cemetery, drove it into a tree, and set a fire inside the cab of the truck.

The suspect fled, however, responding Vancouver Police officers spotted a man matching his description near Main Street and East 41st Avenue.

Following a brief foot pursuit, the 41-year-old suspect was taken into custody after running into traffic and being struck by a car. He was taken to hospital for treatment. His injuries are not believed to be serious.

Charges have not yet been laid.
