Vancouver – The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) is investigating a targeted shooting that occurred yesterday afternoon at Spanish Banks.
Witnesses called police at approximately 4:50 p.m. to report that two masked men had fired shots at an occupied parked vehicle. Alert citizens obtained the license plate number for the suspect sedan before the shooters fled. Shortly after, officers located the suspect sedan and initiated a vehicle stop near Fraser Street and E 49th Avenue. One suspect was arrested and remains in custody. The second suspect remains outstanding.
Investigators have since recovered the vehicle that was shot into; however, no victims have been located or identified at this time.
“At this time, this appears to be a targeted, isolated event, and there is no perceived ongoing threat to the general public,” says Constable Darren Wong.
The VPD’s Major Crime Section is leading the investigation and is appealing to the public for information. Anyone who witnessed the shooting or has dashcam footage from the Spanish Banks area yesterday afternoon is asked to contact investigators at 604-717-2500.
