Vancouver – The Vancouver Police Department is appealing for video evidence to help investigate two separate violent incidents that occurred in the Downtown Eastside over the weekend.

On Friday, just after 2 p.m., a female tourist was randomly pushed from behind into traffic near Carrall Street and East Pender Street. Fortunately, she was not injured.

The suspect fled the area before police arrived and is described as:

  • An Indigenous woman, 40 to 50 years old.
  • Approximately 5-foot-8 with a medium build, medium complexion, and sunken cheeks.
  • Having lip piercings.
  • Wearing a black toque, black jacket, black pants, and black combat boots.

On Sunday, at approximately 11:40 p.m., a man was stabbed multiple times in the neck near Main Street and East Hastings Street. His injuries have since been determined to be non-life-threatening.

The suspect remains at large and is described as:

  • A Caucasian man, 30 to 40 years old.
  • Approximately 6-foot with a stocky build and a bald head.
  • Wearing an orange shirt and tan pants.

“People in the Downtown Eastside are often reluctant to come forward as witnesses,” said Constable Darren Wong. “Each incident this weekend occurred in an area where limited video surveillance was available. Video footage can help identify suspects and protect victims when witnesses are too afraid to speak up.”

Both incidents remain under investigation. Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed either incident, or motorists who may have relevant dash-cam footage from these areas at the times listed, to contact the Vancouver Police Department’s non-emergency line at 604-717-3321.
