The Vancouver Police Board has renewed the reward for information in the homicide of Mayvette Monzon, who was killed in September 2005.
Her family is grateful for the reward and is hopeful someone will come forward with information in the case.
“We just want justice to prevail and for our family to have closure,” says Maria Franco, Mayvette’s sister. She remembers her sister’s zest for life and her generous nature and spirit, for which she was well known. “Mayvette was a friend to everyone.”
Detective Ken Nixon, of the Vancouver Police Homicide Unit, believes someone in the community may know what happened.
“It’s important to keep the case alive. Maybe they will have a change of heart and decide it is time to come forward.”
Anyone with information is asked to call the Vancouver Police at 604-717-2500 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
