Sex-Assault-Composite-August-18th-2013The Vancouver Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a person of interest in the attempted sexual assault of a woman in McLean Park on August 18th.

At about 12:20 am on August 18th, a 25 year old Vancouver woman was walking her dog in the area of McLean Park, near East Georgia Street and Heatley Avenue, when an unknown man ran up behind her, grabbed her, and pushed her to the ground. The man attempted to sexually assault her, but the woman fought back, was able to break free and run to a place of safety, where she called 9-1-1.

The suspect is described as a 35 year old man with a medium skin tone, 6’5″ tall with an athletic build. He was wearing a black v-neck shirt, dark jeans and a dark-coloured New York Yankees baseball cap.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are asking for anyone who has information regarding the possible identity of this man, or who may have seen this man in the area, to call the Vancouver Police Sex Crimes Unit at (604) 717-0601 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
