Police have arrested a man who is believed to be responsible for a series of sexual assaults in the Oakridge area.
Around 5:30 p.m. last night, an officer patrolling the Cambie Street corridor located the man who matched the description provided by three recent assault victims. He was arrested and taken to the police station for questioning.
The first assault happened on Monday, May 12th, around 5:15 p.m., when a 22-year-old woman was attacked at West 37th Avenue and Cambie Street. She was pushed into the bushes and sexually assaulted.
Following Monday’s attack, police released a composite sketch of a possible suspect and appealed to the public for help identifying the attacker.
The second assault happened on Wednesday, May 14th, around 11 p.m., when a 19-year-old woman was attacked at W. 45th Avenue and Cambie Street. She was pushed to the ground and sexually assaulted.
The third assault happened on Thursday, May 15th, around 3:30 p.m., when a 38-year-old woman was assaulted at W. 42nd Avenue and Cambie Street.
The 25-year-old Vancouver man has not yet been charged, but remains in police custody pending his next court appearance scheduled for Tuesday, May 20th.
