Vancouver Police are looking for witnesses to a Downtown Eastside homicide after a man died in hospital following a stabbing earlier this evening.
Shortly after 6 p.m., police responded to a report of a stabbing in front of 139 East Hastings Street. When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from a serious stab wound. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition by paramedics. He was pronounced dead in hospital a short time later.
The 47 year-old victim is known to police and he appears to have been targeted in the stabbing. His name is not being released at this time.
Detectives from the VPD’s Major Crime Section and Forensic Identification Unit have been at the scene throughout the evening. The investigation is ongoing and there have been no arrests made in the case.
