Around 11 p.m. last night, a woman was walking in the area of West 48th Avenue and Oak Street when she was grabbed from behind by a stranger. She fought him off and he ran away. The motive for the attack appears sexual in nature.

She was not physically injured.

Following an extensive search with a police dog and helicopter last night, and an extensive video and witness canvass today, the suspect has not been located.

Unfortunately due to the circumstances, she was not able to provide a detailed description. Police are looking for a man who is 5’8″ to 5’10” tall with a medium build.

Police are advising women to be cautious following last night’s assault.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Vancouver Police at 604-717-0603.
