Vancouver Police are releasing a composite sketch and asking the public to help identify the suspect in a random attack on a woman.

At about 6:45 a.m. on Saturday, April 2nd, a 23-year-old woman was walking along Gladstone Street near Kingsway when a man rode by on a bicycle and struck her in the back of the head with a golf club. He turned around and came back toward her on his bike, when a witness arrived on scene and scared the suspect off.

The victim was treated by paramedics and released with minor injuries.

The suspect was described as white, late 20s to early 30s, clean-shaven, 6′ tall, with an average build, short, dark brown hair, and a large brow. He was riding an older, blue mountain bike.

It is still early in the investigation and the motive for the attack remains unclear. Police are hoping someone will recognize the man described and shown in the composite drawing.

Anyone with information about this attack, or who believes they recognize this suspect, is asked to contact the VPD Major Crime Section at 604-717-2541 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
