Teamwork between a witness, Metro Vancouver Transit Police, and the Vancouver Police Department has resulted in the arrest of three robbery suspects.

At around 10 p.m. on Thursday, a man allegedly entered a restaurant on West Broadway near Cambie Street with his face covered, and armed with a firearm. He demanded money from the cash register, and then left the store with an undisclosed amount.

A citizen saw the robbery taking place and immediately reported the incident to Metro Vancouver Transit Police officers nearby, which resulted in three men being arrested for robbery.

“This is another great example of teamwork between the Transit Police and the VPD, and with the public. These suspects could have avoided arrest without the witness and officers taking quick action,” says VPD’s Constable Jason Doucette. “We encourage people to report suspicious behaviour to police immediately.”

Vancouver Police have taken over the investigation and are recommending charges related to the robbery against two Vancouver men in their 20s. The third was later released without charge.
