First responders were in a high state of alertness at today’s 4/20 events in Vancouver.

Police, fire, ambulance, Park Board, and City of Vancouver staff were busy today managing the crowd at Sunset Beach. There was no crowd gathered at the Vancouver Art Gallery.

VPD had no major incidents at Sunset Beach but did make two arrests – one youth was arrested for assault and weapons charges, and one man was arrested for breaching his release conditions.

During the peak, the crowd was approximately 40,000 people and 482 vendor tents were gathered at Sunset Beach.

Emergency Health Services attended to 23 medical emergencies, 10 overdose calls, and 8 people were taken to hospital for further treatment.

A small crowd remains at the park and police are encouraging vendors to dismantle tents.
