Vancouver Police are investigating a fatal collision in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside, after a pedestrian was struck by a transit bus early this evening.
Just before 5:30 p.m., a bus pulled away from a stop on West Hastings Street, going east towards Carroll Street. Moments later, a 63-year-old Vancouver man collided with the bus and he died.
Speed does not appear to be a factor in this crash. The investigation, led by the VPD’s Collision Investigation Unit, is ongoing.
Traffic has been diverted on West Hastings Street, between Abbott and Carall Streets, as investigators continue to work at the scene.
This is Vancouver’s third pedestrian fatality in 2019.
