A joint investigation between the Airdrie RCMP, Squamish RCMP, and the Vancouver Police Marine Unit has resulted in the recovery of a stolen boat worth $160,000.

A bulletin was posted on social media about a 2016 Kingfisher that was stolen from Aidrie, Alberta, in April.

Tips started coming in to Constable Jamie Gibson, of possible sightings of the boat in Squamish. A long-time member of the Marine Unit, Constable Gibson has extensive experience in vessel investigations and is well trained in dealing with Transport Canada regulations surrounding vessel licencing.

The Marine Unit worked closely with the Squamish RCMP, and the stolen boat was located and seized.
