The last thing you’re thinking about when you’re enjoying an afternoon gardening in the backyard is that someone might break in to your home. Recently, a Vancouver senior was doing just that when someone entered her home and stole cash, credit cards, iPads, and a laptop computer. What she didn’t realize was that the thief had also taken her keys.

Two days later, the thief returned and used the keys he had stolen to let himself in. The home owner arrived home just before lunch to find the back door open, her personal property strewn about, and multiple additional items stolen.

As the days become warmer and we spend more time outside, it’s important to ensure your windows and doors are locked – even if you’re just in your yard. You never know who might be watching and looking for an opportunity to help themselves to your property.
