Two VPD officers in plainclothes were observing shoplifters at a local grocery store one evening this week. They noticed a woman concealing multiple items in several reusable shopping bags.
When the store loss prevention officers tried to stop the suspect leaving the store, the bags broke and all the items fell to the floor. The thief then allegedly pulled out a knife and threatened to stab them.
The officers challenged the suspect at gunpoint and she dropped the knife. The knife was seized and the woman was arrested for assault with a weapon, possession of a dangerous weapon, and uttering threats.
