Earlier today, a man allegedly walked in to a bank in the Downtown Eastside, threatened a bank employee with a gun, and demanded money. Staff called police as soon as the suspect left with the cash in hand.

Police responded quickly and officers spotted a man on the street matching the description of the suspect. A three-block foot chase ensued. The man did not comply with police orders and was taken into custody after officers deployed a taser.

The suspect’s gun was recovered and he was arrested for robbery.

While officers were struggling with the suspect, an onlooker threw a can of pop at them. He was arrested for assaulting a peace officer.
