VPD officers spotted a brand new, high-end bike being sold by an illegal street vender in the Downtown Eastside last weekend. When they checked the bike on the Project 529 bike registry, they learned that it had been stolen in an Edmonton break-in the previous week.
Officers seized the bike and reached out to the owner in Edmonton. Arrangements are being made to return it to him.
Registering your bike on the Project 529 bike registry is free. It increases the chance of your bike being returned to you if it is stolen and recovered.
