Vancouver – Vancouver Police are asking for help to locate a missing 73-year-old man with dementia, who was last seen June 4 near the Olympic Village.

Lawrence Hordy went missing around 2 p.m. last Friday, when he left his home near West 1st Avenue and Columbia Street. Mr. Hordy has dementia, so he might seem confused and may not be able to find his way home.

Given his age, his medical condition, and the length of time since he was last seen, police are concerned for his well-being.

Mr. Hordy is white, with fair skin, and walks with a limp. He is five foot ten, with a medium build, greying hair, and a long white beard. He was wearing a red toque, a black and plaid scarf, blue jeans, and brown and black boots.

Recently, Mr. Hordy has become increasingly confused due to his dementia. On previous occasions when he has gone missing, he was found near UBC, in Surrey and at construction sites. Though he is usually able to find his way home, his extended absence is unusual and concerning.

Anyone who sees Lawrence Hordy is asked to call 9-1-1 and stay with him until first responders arrive.
